Comitán de Domínguez in honor of the hero of the free word Belisario Domínguez Palencia, the greatest civil hero of Mexico born in Comitán. It is the oldest city in Chiapas, and the oldest human settlement in Chiapas historically Upon the arrival of the Spaniards, they found a Mayan settlement dating back to the classical period, with the conquest becoming a village of the then captaincy of Guatemala and later in the city, unlike the other cities of Chiapas, which were founded by Spaniards.
